Show-if rules
Show a question only when an earlier answer calls for it, combine conditions with AND or OR, and see what happens to hidden questions.
What a show-if rule does
A show-if rule hides a question until its condition is true. A follow-up such as "What went wrong?" makes sense only when someone answered "Not satisfied" to the question before it, and showing it to everyone else is noise.
Rules are built on the Logic tab of the builder. Each question there has a Show only if… button. The same button appears in the question's settings panel under Show this question only if, labelled Edit logic. A question with a rule carries a small Conditional tag on the Questions tab.
Building a rule
Select Show only if… under the question. A row appears that reads like a sentence:

Change any part from its menu. Select Add condition to add another row. Between rows, the joiner reads AND by default; click it to switch to OR. With AND, every row must be true. With OR, one true row is enough. Remove rule deletes the whole rule.
A rule can only look backwards. The question menu lists earlier questions on the same page, questions on earlier pages, your calculated fields, and hidden fields. A question with nothing before it, and no calculated or hidden fields to test, has nothing to look at, so its button is disabled with the hint "Needs an earlier question". Looking backwards only also rules out circular setups where two questions wait for each other.
Operators
The operators you get depend on what you are testing.

For choice questions the value is picked from the options themselves, so renaming an option later does not break the rule. For text, comparisons ignore case and surrounding spaces. If both sides look like numbers, they are compared as numbers, so "10" is greater than "9".
What happens to a hidden question
A hidden question is not asked, is not required, and its answer is not stored. If a respondent answered a question and then changed an earlier answer so that it becomes hidden, the earlier answer is dropped, and any rule that depended on it is re-evaluated without it. Hidden questions do not appear in the response, in exports or in webhook payloads, and in a quiz they are not graded and do not count towards the maximum score.
The check is repeated on the server when the form is submitted, using the same logic as the browser, so a respondent cannot get around it by editing the page.
Cleaning up
If you delete a question that other rules referred to, those conditions are removed automatically, and a rule left with no conditions disappears. Rules cannot point at questions that are later in the form.
Plans
Conditional logic is a plan feature. You can build rules on any plan and test them in the preview, but publishing a form that has a rule needs a plan that includes it. See Default plan limits.
